About Becky
Becky Nissen began private harp study at age seven in Sarasota, Florida, and placed first in a national Christian teen talent search at age 13. She earned a degree in harp performance from the University of South Florida in Tampa, and continued studies at the Salzedo Harp School in Camden, Maine. Becky has served as principal harpist with the Lakeland, Ft. Myers, and West Coast Symphony Orchestras in Florida, and with the Olympia, and Tacoma Symphony Orchestras in Washington. She taught harp at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
Since moving to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1984, Becky has performed regularly in churches, hotels, dinner clubs and theaters all along the Grand Strand. For five Christmas seasons she performed nightly with the Gatlin Brothers at the Gatlin Brothers Theater in Myrtle Beach. Becky was the 1999 winner of the Lyon & Healy International Jazz and Pop Harp Competition in Nashville. She has performed with the North Carolina, Wilmington, and Florence Symphony Orchestras, and has served as principal harpist with the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach for 17 years. She maintains an active career as a free-lance harpist, and is the director of music at Surfside Presbyterian Church
